R26C and MiFare DESfire v2

Postby kayasaman » Mon Jun 24, 2019 3:09 am

Hi,

I recently purchased a pack of NXP MiFare DESfire v2 RFID cards. Based on reading around the forums and instruction manual in the Wiki it should work fine.

I am using the instructions given here to read the card:

viewtopic.php?t=112

1. Enter the website, go to the path: Intercom - Card Settings interface;
2. Setup Card Status as Card Issuing, click Apply;
3. Choose the DoorNumber (R23/R26 can support to connect 2 doors) ;
4. Enter a name for the card;
5. Place the card in Card Reader Area;
6. Click Obtain;
7. After R26 read the card code, click Add, the card information will show in the Door Card Management list. Click Submit;
8. After configuration, change Card Status as Normal,click Apply to save. Then you can unlock with the card.

My firmware version is: 26.31.4.111

When I set the R26 into "Issuing" mode, enter the card name and put it on the reader then click "Obtain" - nothing happens??

These are the cards I bought: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PN46HNY? ... E_DDE_dt_1

They work at 13.56MHz and are NXP ones so they should work....

As this is the first time using RFID cards I am wondering if I have to write a code to them first before I can read them in the R26?

A bit of research on the NXP site came up with this: https://www.mifare.net/support/forum/to ... m-cloning/

which claims that one needs to write data to the card first.

Is my understanding correct in that my card currently is empty with no "IC Key Code" currently?

Thanks.

After a lot of trying different things including using the NXP app and NFC to read the card I figured out what was happening.

The "Obtain" function does not work!

I had to put the R26C into "Normal" status then read the card. The IC Key Code was logged under the "Phone -> Door Logs" as "unKnown". From there it was a case of copying the Code then putting the R26C into "Card Issuing" mode and pasting the Code in with a name of course, then clicking "Add".

Now it is working fine :-)
